For us at Salus, saving as much water as possible is a matter of course.
The company site comprises agricultural test areas for biological cultivation of herbs and the mostly natural Salus Auwald biotope with a nature study trail. Also the production site itself is very green: already in 1974 grass was planted on the roof of a warehouse. There is a traditional orchard with old fruit sorts and many green areas and meadows. The latter are mown only after the wild plants and flowers have propagated their seeds in order to assure their diversity.
The parking areas are designed with lawn grids and lawn gap stones in order to impede soil sealing. The LED outside lighting is operated by means of motion sensors and consequently is only activated when necessary. This saves energy but also contributes to the protection of wild animals (especially birds and insects) that during night time are not disturbed unnecessarily through "light contamination".
