Salus Video-Tour

All liquid tonics and teas are produced at our company site in Bruckmühl, Upper Bavaria, Germany - 82,500 m² in total. Only about 18 % thereof are covered with buildings (many green areas).

Warehouses S-100 – S-400

  • Goods receipt and incoming inspection
  • Storage of raw material and intermediate products, separated by organic and conventional goods
  • 6,000 pallet storage positions
  • CO2 disinfestation with natural carbon dioxide from volcanic origin

Photovoltaic systems

  • Photovoltaic systems on several roofs and façades generating up to 390 MWh of electricity per year

Herbal drugs processing

  • Cutting, sieving, cleaning of herbs
  • Removal of foreign parts from the herbal raw material (unique automatic sorting machines)
  • 20 – 70 % waste

Tea production

  • Production of 200 different Salus teas in filter bags or block bottom bags
  • Fruit teas, herbal teas, medicinal teas
  • 300 tea bags per minute and per machine

Hydro-electric power plant

  • Two hydro-electric power plants generate 2.000 -2.700 MWh of electricity per year
  • Depending on the water level in the stream, Salus produces 60 – 90 % of its own green energy

Production of extracts

  • Extraction of active ingredients of the herbs in big mixers
  • Modern process control system
  • Addition of other ingredients as e.g. minerals
  • Concentration of some extracts through evaporators
  • Vacuum-drying and pulverisation of some extracts (for solid dosage forms)

Packaging of liquids

  • Line 1 (finished products)
    • 250 ml, 500 ml and 700 ml tonics
    • Output: more than 100,000 bottles daily
  • Line 2 (samples and drops)
    • 10 ml, 15 ml, 20 ml, 50 ml and 100 ml
    • Output: more than 60,000 bottles daily 

Laboratory

  • Laboratory takes part in the selection of suppliers and raw materials
  • Monitoring of every production step
  • All product batches for food or medicinal products are extensively tested (beyond the legal requirements)
  • 11,000 analyses per year: content of active substance, purity, identity, sensory tests, residue analytics (e.g. pesticides, heavy metals, pyrrolizidine and tropane alkaloids, mycotoxins, polycyclic aromatic carbons etc.), microbiological tests

Warehouse S800

  • High bay warehouse for finished products and packaging materials
  • 3,000 m² surface area
  • 8,000 pallet storage positions
  • Distribution of goods to more than 60 countries worldwide

Salusteria

  • 100 % organic meals for around 300 employees
  • Built in 2014 with regional and mostly natural materials
  • Focus on energy efficiency: 
    • Building is heated with waste heat from production and cooled with river water
    • Ventilation system with heat recovery system
    • LED technology for lighting
